Hi NYER - although Mikao Usui was a buddhist, he said very clearly that Reiki is not religious, or anything whatsoever to do with religion. Understanding a little about buddhism will help you develop more insight into Reiki. The precepts tie in with some buddhist concepts like mindfulness. But it is not necessary to reconcile Reiki with any religion as Reiki just is part of you anyway!

Leela - I dunno about where you are, but here in the UK it's advisable for anyone setting up as an alternative therapist to have the right insurance - here we can get it by joining the Reiki Association or Federation. You may have similar organisations? They will also often publish guides to setting up business with useful advice for you. I know for the UK ones, they will not accept you if you have been distance attuned, and you have to provide them with copies of your certificates and lineage. But it may be different elsewhere. I don't have a business - use my Reiki on my own family and pets and self! I don't have a business brain, unfortunately! Good luck with it, so exciting!

Hope that helps!
