If your weight gain is mainly the result of your hypothyroidism, then you can expect to continue to lose as your TSH level goes down. Many women lose weight when they start treatment for hypothyroidism and eventually plateau or lose more when their dosage is increased. Your thyroid controls your metabolism and when you become hypo, your metabolism slows down. Treating your hypothyroidism increases your metabolism (you should have more energy, too). My mom lost 15 lbs in the first 2 weeks of taking Synthroid and she wasn't even trying.
