South beach diet for a thin cyster? I’m a thin cyster (5’7’’ and about 125 pounds). I’ve always been thin, have always had a very high metabolism and pretty much can eat whatever I want and not gain weight. I’ve also had extremely long cycles since I first got my period, and was diagnosed with PCOS about a year ago, at the age of 26. The Dr. put me on Metformin (1500 mg a day) and it has helped make my cycles shorter (between 30 and 42 days, give or take, as opposed to the 50, 60 or even 80 days that they used to be). So I guess I am insulin resistant even though I’m not overweight, since the Metformin is helping my cycles. I don’t really understand why I’m not overweight, though. Anyway, the Dr. recently recommended the South Beach diet to be b/c she said it can further help my insulin levels and help my cycles become more normal. The thing is, I don’t want or need to lose weight. I don’t know a whole lot about South Beach, but I read that it can make you lose 8-13 pounds in a couple weeks, which would make me underweight. Anyone know anything about South Beach? Have any other thin cysters done South Beach or other low carb diets? Has it helped make your cycles more normal? Thanks! |
