New York is the only state to recognize other states unions. I suggest checking out www.hrc.org for helpful information. Also I suggest that you have a ceramony and then have a lawyer draw up an agreement that gives your spouse the same rights a real spouse will have because thats the only way you could really live as a married couple seeing that no state has to honor any other states marriage or civil union laws
