A very close friend of mine bought a Frigidaire ceran top stove and hated it.
She had previously had coil top stoves and said she made a mistake buying her current one.
My friend's biggest issue was that it could be a pita to try and clean the burnt on stuff but what really bothered her was that it scratched so easily.
I think they look great in a kitchen and had one in a home that we rented for 6 months. My issue with it was that it had a white top, which I don't think they even make anymore, and for a good reason. 15+ years of cooking on it severely discolored it. Other than that, we didn't have any isses with it.
I have been warned by many that repairs can be pricy because if there is an issue with the ceran top, the entire piece needs replacing, sometimes costing as much as the stove it self.(Not sure if this true, but have been told this by numerous sources)
This has always made me a little leery about purchasing one for myself.
I currently have a gas stove, and love it. I am not an avid cook but after using gas, I don't think I could back to a regular stove.
Good Luck with your purchase.
