My thing is you can't control what your company does by laying you off.The one thing you can do if you haven't already get a resume together and get up as you normally would and go look for a job. Why does buying a pack of smokes concern you so much you mention you are having financial issues. Maybe this might be a good time to stop smoking. I'm a non-smoker but that is just my opinion. I know its hard but try to stay positive.
