Question Newly diagnosed, questions

I am a newly diagnosed type II diabetic. Apparently my blood sugar is very well controlled, I had a great A1C. I do not test my blood sugar, I guess my doctor thinks it isn't necessary, I am just trying to control with diet and lose weight, plus I take Metformin. My doctor says if I lose a little weight that may make it "go away."

First is that possible, for diabetes to go away? Apparently I am just barely diabetic.

Also do I need a medical alert bracelet?

Thanks for your help!
