I continued met through about 7 or 8 weeks. I was okayed to take it through the entire 1st trimester, but stopped because of morning sickness. It supposedly decreases the miscarriage rate in PCOS women to that of the average woman. When taken throughout the entire pregnancy it is said to decrease the rate of gestational diabetes in PCOS women, which is also elevated. Each doctor seems to have a different comfort level with Met during pregnancy. It will depend on their own experiences if they will even suggest continuing Met during pregnancy. Some will outright ban it and some will insist you keep taking it. There isn't anything to indicate it causes problems, but there also isn't really any research out there that shows it's safe either. If you are at risk on m/c or GD, it might be worth it to continue the drug. If you aren't, it will just be a decision for you and your doctor to make together.
