For those of us who are IR...it's perfectly safe to stay on met throughout our pregnancies.

It lowers the risk of miscarriage and development of GD. Yes, it's still possible for either to occur, but you are less likely to develop problems while on met.

And, for the record, I was on 1000 mg for my last pregnancy and 2000 mg for THIS pregnancy. Both times I failed my 1 hr GTT, but passed the 3 hr GTT with flying colors.
