I'm not on metformin yet, but see my RE today to discuss it. I am currently breastfeeding and did tons of research on metformin beforehand. I feel very safe taking it while breastfeeding. I even contacted LLL to ask someone to look it up in Hales. Some women actually take metformin to increase their milk supply - though many go off it if they take it for this reason due to the side effects. (There are other ways to increase supply without the side effects, but for IR, there's not a heck of a lot of other things we can do!) I don't know what dosage of met I'll be on since I actually do have normal cycles but have super high insulin levels, which may be the reason I miscarry so often. Despite it being safe, I'm going to start on a low dose and move up more slowly than the norm.

*Edited to add: Saw the dr and now have a presciption for metformin. I'm only doing 500 since my reasons for the metformin is different than most. (Insulin resistance - BUT for reason of needing it when I get pg to decrease miscarriage risk. I ovulate and get pg fine but have trouble staying pg).
