Question Can family dr prescribe met?

I've just had a bunch of tests, including a glucose tolerance test. My new family dr is wonderful and has been THE best dr I've seen regarding PCOS. He really knows his stuff and is really on the ball with everything. I have an appointment next week to go over my test results.

I also have an appointment in July with my new ob/gyn to discuss my fertility issues.

So, will I have to wait until July to get treatment or will my family dr be able to prescribe treatment for me? I'm sure he'll probably let the ob/gyn deal with things like clomid and other fertility issues, but could he prescribe met?

Just wondering.
