My full story is long,,,but maybe this will help someone new. I was lucky enough to have children, but I was very young (which according to my endo is the only reason I had them). They say things happen for a reason, and I believe that they do.
Anyway, when I was 17, I had my daughter, and when I was 20 I had twin boys. I had always had irregular cycles, but every docotor I came across said it was no big deal. (if I'd only known!). Right after my twins were born, is when everything went haywire so to speak. I put on an excessive amount of weight, stopped having menstrual cycles all together, etc. I went back to the doctor about six months after the twins were born, and had gained nearly 40 pounds. The doctor and I talked, and I told him all the symptoms I was having, and he just told me I needed to try harder to lose weight. I got mad, because no matter how hard I tried, I still couldn't lose. So, I went to another dr., who I am sure was missing a few brain cells, because he told me I had too many kids too close together and my body was shutting down, but it was completely NORMAL!!! Then I went to the next doctor who said I was just depressed from the weight gain, and tried to put me on Prozac! Okay, so at this point I gave up on doctors, and never mentioned the problems again, I even stopped going to the OB/GYN. BAD MISTAKE!!!! So, things keep getting worse, and I start getting dizzy, and having this severe pain where my ovaries are. So after about three years of not seeing an OB/GYN, I found a new one and went. I don't think I was in his office more than 5 seconds, and when I started talking he said, I already know what is going on with you , you have PCOS, and you are probably IR plus I had a large ovarian tumor (13 lbs. to be exact) that he found. I was shocked, I had finally found someone who didn't think I was crazy!!! He started me on Metformin, scheduled surgery, and said he wanted me to see an Endo. before things got any further out of hand than they already were. So, he made me an appointment, and it took over six months to get in, but it was worth the wait! The Endo was great too, and seemed to know exactly what he was doing! He put me on the following meds:
Metformin 500mg two times a day (for PCOS and IR)
Lisinopril 10mg one per day (to protect my kidneys)
Spirnolactone two per day (for Hirsutism)
Triglide 160mg one per day (for elevated Triglycerides)
Lovaza 1000mg four per day (for elevated Triglycerides)
Byetta 10mcg injection two per day (for PCOS and IR)
Honestly, I told him he was crazy at first if he thought I would take all those meds, and he said, just try it for six months, if you don't think it is helping you then we will stop, but I guarantee you will see an improvment. And, he was sooooooo right!!!!
Okay, sorry for the book , but I just thought I would let you know since Rekabla asked, and also if anyone new out there is going through the same issues. If you want to know anymore, you can email me at
