My husband who is a TYPE 1 diabetic took this medication for about 3 months inconjuction with his daily insulin shots. It works similar to metformin in allowing your body to synthesize your natural insulin better. For my husband he got off of it because it didn't do anything for his diabetes and it is expensive.
