For me, my GP tried Spirnolactone first. Which is medication that helps lower testosterone, but shouldn't be used while TTC. My GYN then prescribed Metformin, and then felt that there was an issue with hubbys sperm analysis, so I got referred to a Reproductive Endocriniologist(RE)... he said that the sperm analysis was fine, no worries and he prescribed clomid.
Clomid is taken as 5 pills, typically on either CD 3-7 or CD 5-9, whichever your doctor prefers, or has had more success with.
Myself, I knew that Clomid was what I needed, for two years I was extremely frustrated being assed around to different doctors. This month on 100 mg of Clomid, I did ovulate.
The dosage of clomid I believe does go to 250, but you will barely ever see anyone on that high. Clomid thins the uterine lining..which is bad for GETTING pregnant(you may ovulate, but it may not be able to 'stick') .. so not alot of doctors go that high. My RE won't go above 150.
