Melanie- There are no words to comfort you right now, but you know I have felt the exact same feelings, so if you want to talk, please e-mail me. My best advice is to try to take care of yourself and be there for dh. Let yourself feel whatever you feel ie: don't hold back becasue you are ashamed or embarrassed or don't feel like you "should" feel this way. You wil get through this together. One day at a time. Your dh is very strong for letting the docs go searching like that.
