I used a trainer last spring to start up a program along with seeing a nutritionist. I dropped 10 pounds last summer and have kept it off, despite falling off the program after a month. I am going back again to start up another session to get me motivated to work out again and lose another 20-30lbs. I do think it's worth seeing a trainer and it sounds even better that he's going to help you with the nutrition part of losing. My trainer costs about $50/session. I thought the same thing when I got a trainer to set me up with a plan (skeptical). I wasn't able to work out with her but she showed me what I needed to do to efficiently lose weight.
