DH is an anesthesiologist, and I asked him about how common spinal headaches are as a result of an epi. He said it's about 1 in 200, and more common in thin people.
As for pain, I have to admit, I felt the epi was necessary. However, mine only ended up working on 1 side, so I still felt a lot of the pain. Honestly though, even with the pain, you know at the time that it's not forever, and you'll just breathe through it and deal. You'll be fine. A billion women have gone through it and lived, and you'll be one of them!
