It's so important to keep testing for various things. A few years ago, I asked my (former) family doctor to check my hormone levels because i had been reading up on it and felt there was an imbalance. Had some tests - nothing came back. Eventually switched family doctors and the new one caught the RIGHT hormones right away and voila -- PCOS became a part of my vocabulary.
It's important that you spare no detail to your doctors. My shyness about how crazy heavy my period actually was delayed my diagnosis for years.
Good luck!
