My doctor does the same thing. He tested me about 3 months after I started Met and since they were normal, he allowed me to continue the Met use. I will now have to get my liver enzymes tested once a year for as long as I am on Met. This is a side effect of many medicines. He told me at an appointment on Thursday that cholesterol medicines can also cause an increase in liver enzymes and I had to get my liver enzymes checked while on Depakote (a med prescribed for bi-polar disorder).
