Beth, I just moved from Fayetteville the end of March--after living there for 12 yrs.

ALOT of people go to the Manna church (non-denom) over on Cliffdale. As a convert to Catholicism from a non-denom upbringing, I'd recommend (if you were interested in a Catholic church) to check out St Patrick's on Ireland Dr. Father De Candia (the vicar) is especially wonderful. It is a vibrant, active parish.

The Lutheran church downtown (I think it is St James'? around Morganton Rd somewhere down around Hay St) is pastored by a woman, and there is an Episcopalian church down on Morganton or Cliffdale--it might be down on Raeford Rd, I cannot remember--its also on the way to downtown Fayetteville...

I'm trying to remember some of the other churches. Personally, of course, I'm biased and would suggest you try out the Catholic churches first... ;-)

If you want/need any recommendations on restaurants, used book stores, etc, let me know, k?

Rachel (DH retired after 20+ in the 82d)
