I moved to Ottawa from NB last summer. I had no trouble whatsoever getting a family dr or meds or referrals. I went to one of the Appletree medical group clinics and they signed me up right away with a family dr. I was referred to a gyne within the group on my first visit after telling them I wasn't back to normal after a m/c for which I never received any medical attention whatsoever. The dr I saw wasn't concerned but gave me a referral without me even asking for it. Once you sign up with the group, you can go to any of their clinics, you don't need an appt to see the GP's (although you may end up waiting), and all your info is accessible within the group so it's easy to go to a different clinic if you need to. Some people may not like appletree, but so far I think it's awesome!
