Even if you do kick counts, and wake in the middle of the night. to count..there really is no prewarning sign is there? once the baby stops kicking and the baby has passed its too late, or am i missing something?
I believe from what I have read, that any sudden changes in kicking patterns (a big decrease OR a big increase) can be a warning sign that the baby is in distress, and hopefully if women are aware of this they will seek emergency care and be able to deliver before it is too late. I think the point is that women need to be aware and seek medical attention as soon as they notice a change.
