I was set to have bypass until I started making a baby...LOL But I was doing alot of research and while Lap-Band seemed safer, I needed something with more results. I loved the idea of the sleeve, but it's still considered to new and "experimental" so my insurance won't cover it. I ultimately chose RNY (gastric bypass) and was set to meet my surgeon tomorrow, but since I'm pg that wont be happening now...LOL You should go to
www.obesityhelp.com. Its an AMAZING site that quite a few WLS Divas (including myself) belong to. There's alot of info about the sleeve as well as the other WLS options, and there's a message board and forums for all the surgeries. You can find LOADS of info about the sleeve there. Basically, the sleeve is a restrictive surgery, similar to the Lap-Band except there's obviously no band and no maintainence. Lots of people choose it for that very reason. It has a higher rate of weight loss than the band but less than RNY. RNY and the switch (Duedenal Switch) are malabsorption surgeries that have the largest weight of weightloss but have more things you have to take to keep everything in check. Choice is totally up to you. HTH and good luck!!!
