Try exercising more. I have not been successful at controlling the cycle. (of course, mine is the typical yo-yo dieting... I'm on a diet, I do really well- hit a plateau, and gain everything back plus more)

Also, allowing cheating helps a bit too. I'm on a uber strict diet, and I'm fine with it 95% of the time- but when I'm not fine with it.. (like when cheesecake is sitting in front of me) I eat off of it. It helps me stay with it.

If you aren't gaining weight in general. (you stay between 145 and 155... not 145 and 150 this month, 148 and 152 next month, etc.) then I wouldn't worry about it too much. Your weight can vary 10lbs in a day.

One tip (since it seems to be a big issue) is instead of controlling your food, control your wallet. It has been a good dieting technique for a lot of people. (I never buy 'bad' food- but I still have it around all the time, so this doesn't work for me)
