Default my glucophage story (in a nutshell)

Hi all
I'm a PCOS cyster who has not had an unmedicated period (Provera or BC)since I was a teenager. I am now 38. That means over 20 years.
Some facial whiskers/hair but not that bad...I'm blond so I think that helps. Weight issues (middle body) on and off. I can diet and exercise it off (VERY hard), but it creeps back on and wants to stay.
Anyhow...theres more to it, but I wanted to talk about my metformin and glucophage so others can read since we're all here to find out information.

I did metformin (generic) for several months and got one period and had pretty bad gastric side effects and nausea so I stopped the generic.
do not know if ovulation accompanied the period.

I decided to switch to Glucophage (brand) (after speaking to my doc) and I've been on it since February. I have had 3 (count them 3!) periods since February on Glucophage. This is happening in a body that after my initial period at 12 years old NEVER had one again unless I created one with BC or Provera. Kinda amazing! I also have much less severe side effects. I do occasionally have the morning loose stools, but no nausea like on the generic. I also do not know if ovulation is accompanying the periods. The side effects on brand are less for me.

also, I went to my electrolysis session yesterday (for my extraneous long facial hairs) and she mentioned that I've had a pretty good regrowth the past several months. Interesting...so it seems that the Glucophage is not quite keeping my hormones in check to keep the facial hair growth down - unless it is possible to have a summer time boost of hair growth...I don't know. BUT, it is giving me periods...about every 2 months. I'm on 1500 MG XR.

I have also dropped about 8 pounds since February without trying that hard.

Just wanted to share my general story so far with Glucophage because before I started I was interested in other personal stories.
Obviously there is more to my PCOS journey, but I wanted to keep it about Glucophage in general.
