looking for some advice Hey all, I want to start off by saying how helpful this forum has been for me in putting together the pieces of PCOS. I am a 20 year old female who exercises regularly and eats well. I would consider myself more healthy than most people my age. Just over 2 years ago, I started having sharp pains/burning pains when having sex with my boyfriend. I got it checked out, and my dr said it was a yeast infection. However, I never had any other telltale signs of a yeast infection. For 2 years, this problem has never been solved. Ive been to countless doctors who examine me and all say its yeast, but no creams/medicines/supplements seem to make it go away. I have had about 7-8 full-blown yeast infections, but they can usually be cured with a 3-5 day course of OTC treatment. (and by "cured", i mean all outward symptoms go away, except for the painful sex). About a year ago, I tried going on a completley yeast-free diet. I only lasted ~1.5-2 weeks, but I think it may have been helping. My boyfriend and I broke up about a year after this started happening (for unrelated reasons, he was always very supportive of what i was going through). I wasnt having sex in the months following, so I kind of ignored the problem. Now that I am starting to have sex again, the problem is still there. This is one of the most frustrating things I have ever encountered, as some of you may imagine. I feel like most people I talk to really dont understand.
Fastforward to January, when I am diagnosed with PCOS. I learned that diabetes was something that often went hand in hand with the syndrome, and began to wonder if high blood sugar levels could be giving the yeast something to constantly feed on and live off. Very recently, I have been more thirsty than I ever remember being. As of last night, I cant seem to drink enough water. Ive probably had 70oz since 10pm last night, and my mouth and throat feel dry no matter what.
Im not going to be able to get to a doctor for a little while longer, so I wanted to bring up my concerns with people who may have been through similar situations. I apologize for such a long post, but ive been wanting to get this out for a while. Thank you all so much!!
