I found out that I was diabetic basically by the same symptoms that you are having now. Except for pain during sex.
In April of 2007 I started having regular itching and burning. I believed it was a yeast infection so I started with the otc meds. It would clear up for awhile and then come right back. Finally I went to see my gyno. On my first appointment she did the exam and a pap and took a urine sample. She said most likely it was a yeast infection but wanted to wait for the reuslts of my tests before prescribing anything. So I waited for 2 weeks, continuing to use otc products that where really no longer working for me. When I returned to my gyno she told me that I had 3x's the amount of sugar in urine than I should have and she believed that I was diabetic. She also said that she was not going to treat me till I got my diabetes under control. That same day I made an appointment with my family doctor but couldn't get in for 2 weeks. So during that time I got a meter and started monitoring my blood sugar. When I finally saw my doctor and showed him my meter and told him what the gyno had said he rx me on the spot with type 2 diabetes and started me on glipizied. He did order blood work and when it came back it confirmed that I was diabetic. He did a a1c test which is a blood test that gives hima average of what my blood sugar has been for the last 3 months. Point of the story......after I started the glipized my yeast infection went away and I have not had one since. Yes, the 2 are definately link to one another. Now I see my family doc every 3 months for regular blood testing. I monitor my blood sugar atleast 4 times a day and it is totally under control.
One more thing. Before and durning these yeast infections I was very thirsty all the time and was drinking water ALL the time. Peeing all the time and I was more tired than unsual. All definate signs of diabetes. So from my experience it sounds highly likely that you are diabetic. I hope this helps. |
