Default Lap band surgery for PCOS

Hi everyone.

I am newer to the group and was wondering if anyone has tried lap band surgery and if so, if it helped with other PCOS symptoms. I have an appt with a doctor next week to discuss the procedure. Even though my BMI isn't high enough to be considered morbidly obese (I am at 191 now and 5'6) - the doctor seemed to think this was my best option to fight this since diet and exercise alone have not been very successful for me. I used to take Byetta which helped me drop 20 lbs but now since there has been documentation linking the drug to pancreatitis, my doc made me stop using it. I am just curious how people who have had the surgery have done....if they are happy with their decision to have it....and if they since have had their PCOS symptoms minimized. Even though I am not TTC now (I first need to find a boyfriend!) I want to make sure I am able to when the time comes. It would also be nice to eventually have my IR under control, as well as my period without taking Metformin. Anyways - if anyone out there has had lap band surgery - I would love to hear more info on it.
