Default Newly diagnosed

Hi everyone. I'm 35 and I've been recently diagnosed with PCOS. My doctor wants to test my glucose etc in January and if it is high (it's currently 5.8) she wants to start me on Metformin. Just wondering if anyone has any advice that they can share with me about their experience with PCOS. Did you find that changing your diet and increasing exercise helped? Also, has anyone followed the Low GI way of eating and did it help manage their PCOS. Any advice is greatly appreciated.
