Lupron puts you in menapause, depletes your body of estrogen (this is why they tell you take calcium & d supplements, cause estrogen helps in the processing & retaining of Calcium). Endometriosis feeds off of the estrogen, when the endometrium & endometriosis does not have an adequate supply of estrogen then they *shrink*. The pain you could be feeling could be the shrinking of the endometriosis, and some of the tissue actually dies. As for the lining, it sheds completely making it very thin cause you don't have that estrogen to build up the lining. That's why you have that break through crazy couple of week long bleeding and clot passing period.
This is why you hear of some women being pain free for about a year after their final shot in a typical person with the typical 6 month long monthly IM injections of 7.5mg or 11.75 mg. Now some women will have relief for a few months after injections have ended. Some people only get relief while during injections. It takes awhile for body to realize that you need to start making estrogen when the it recognizes the lupron has left the body. The first cycle you will have after the complete series of lurpon injections will be painful, some will be light, some will be heavy and bleed for awhile.
some research has been said that while on Lupron, cyst will reduce in size on the ovaries in PCOS patients.
now being a nurse and you complaining of severe pain after an lap surgery, I would recommend you seeing your doctor and expressing the pain cause it could be something else.
I wish you luck. give Lupron a shot, the first two months can be a challenge. and in not all people does not work.. I've had lupron 3 seperate occasions of 6 months of injections. The first and second time I had it i had allot of relief from it and even lost weight.. my most recent time I did not get relief infact I got worse... no real explanation why I got worse. but I was very disappointed.
