We did foster care to adopt our daughter. She came to us at 7 months old and we adopted her on her 2 year birthday month. The birthparents rights were terminated when she was 16 months old and it was smooth sailing after that. You always have that fear that something could happen but in order to adopt in any situation you have to have Faith. I never doubted she would remain our child forever.
Also don't be afraid of drug babies. Our Hailey was born with 3 drugs in her system..meth, pot, and empetamines. She is perfectly healthy and bright and beautiful with no delays in any area. It's amazing how resilient children are.
