[quote=Lilly_Vixen;1889508681]let me tell you exactly what has happened...
In June I was experiencing EXCRUTIATING pain in my stomach for about 2 weeks so i went to the doctors and he arranged an ultrasound scan for me which I had and I also had an internal scan... and then I heard nothing.
YESTERDAY I phoned my doctors surgery and asked about the results and the receptionist put the doctor on the phone.
He said my left ovary has cysts and my right ovary SEEMED fine but the images they got werent great but they did seem fine.
I explained that my sister in law has the same condition and she had an operation 18 months ago to remove a cyst but it has come back during her pregnancy (she is 6 months) and after the pregnancy she is having her ovary removed....
He told me having the ovary removed would make it a lot harder to get pregnant which I thought was a no brainer. He didn't tell me about ANY form of medication AT all.... at that point he said "ok bye" and put the phone down.

Hello there,
Firstly, I think you need to change your GP - are there any others in the practice? It seems he hasn't bothered to explain anything to you.
Secondly - there are two separate issues here - the pain you were getting in your stomach is unlikely to have had anything to do with PCOS, as the sort of "cysts" you get with PCOS aren't actually the sort of cysts people often get on their ovaries that are big and cause pain - these ones are actually follicles within the ovaries - essentially they are failed ovulations.
If does sound like you have PCOS symptoms, and you need to get referred to a gynae to talk about your options. Go back to your GP and ask for a referral, and when you get one, ask for a full range of blood tests (LH, FSH, testosterone, oestrogen, SHBG, etc) and also get your glucose tolerance tested. Then talk to your gynae about Metformin etc...
Does that make things a bit clearer?
