Hi Diamond!!! Sorry I have not written. I have been busy. No excuse though
I don't think the dr's plan is "out of the ordinary" - I was put on 3 mos of CBCP, but I was in so much pain after 2 mos and bleeding through it that it was decided I needed lap - immediately. It's good to have lap for diagnosis and for removing the endo, but if it can be controlled w/o surgery, it's a good option. However, if your pain does get better - you will still be curious and feel dependent on BCP. (That's the feeling I don't like at all!).
My dr says she likes to do Lupron after the lap. This is how she explained it to me: After I clean out the endo via lap, then you go on Lupron (or CBCP) (which doesn't allow the endo to grow/spread/cause damage). Lupron will extend this "remission" of endometriosis for a longer period than BCP (BCP only helps while on it). If you have lap, then do nothing (no BCP, no Lupron), your chances of it growing right back are high.
I'm doing Lupron b/c some women find that they have about a year of relief from Endometriosis from their 6 month treatment.
I'm glad your dr is aware of your concerns. Keep a journal and keep her up to date.
