I was denied private insurance in three states because of PCOS. My weight was less than the statistical US average for a woman, not an unhealthy BMI. I was on no medications. I had never had any "true" fertility treatments. I wrote letter after letter about how I would gladly exclude coverage for PCOS if only they could cover "flu and falls." Still got DE-nied.
So we lost everything we owned to pay the COBRA. Finally DH got a minimum wage state job and we got group insurance.
