when is she taking her metformin is it during a meal or after, i take metformin inbetween meal for example i have a few spoonfulls then have my metformin, i was taking it after meals before and i had really bad diarrohea and sickness, so just explain to her that could be what is making her nauseated and going to the loo.It may help her.
