I have been trying to get pregnant for almost 20 months now.
I was diagnosed in 2004 with pcos, my partner was told he had a low sperm count last october (we were told this from my gynae found out yesterday this is not the case)
Should we have been referred after a year of trying with both of us having known fertility issues?

I was seeing a gynaecologist who didnt refer me after knowing we both had issues and infact bullied me into doing a method she was studying called the creighton method. I had no intrest in this since i had a year of charting cycles, mucous ect and i didnt understand why she wanted me to do this when im not ovulating and knowing my partner had issues also. She also gave me clomid with no blood tests so i cant prove the clomid didnt work even though with me charting and doing opk showed no ovulation.

She also didnt offer any scans or anything else or to check for blocked tubes. Another problem with her was that she told me my partners issue was his count but we found out yesterday from his urologist (the same results) that its the shape of the sperm thats the problem. So she didnt even alert us to this issue or refer us elsewhere.
Should we have been referred to the assisted conception unit as soon as we knew we both had problems? Am i able to ask my gp to write to her to ask her to backdate a referral to when we we found out we both had fertility issues? I would also like to know if all these problems we had with her are grounds for us to make a complaint? With the creighton method she wanted us to start it was outwith the nhs as it was something she was learning, after she qualified she wanted us to travel to see a consultant or she her once she was qualified to find out whats best for us. And to find out what was best for us we would have to pay. Is this not her job within the nhs? To tell us what treatments would be best and to refer us to where we need to be?

Also when i told her i was no longer doing the creighton method as i felt it useless for me and my partner, she agreed to refer us and to write me a prescription for metformin to take in the time until we get an appointment, that was at the start of december and she has done neither of these things. i have left her a message on her phone and messages with her receptionist but nothing is making any difference.

Do you think i have a right to make a formal complaint to the nhs regarding her? If so how would i go about this and would it actually speed my fertility treatments up or would it be pointless?
