I have noticed that bcp didn't increase or decrease my stomach problems. I have a hiatus hernia which seems to increase my sensitivity to medications, certain foods etc. I was on bcp (actually EVRA patch) for several years and loved it. The facial and body hair eventually went away, kept me regular, and helped with the acne a great deal. Kept me on an even keel. Once I went off the patch everything came back. I had blood work done and everything was "normal" except for the high testosterone which I think is partly the culprit of what I'm dealing with now - weight gain, excess hair, irregular periods, acne. I have been on Weight Watchers for several months now and have only lost 6 lbs. I have another 25 to go to be within the healthy weight range for my age and height. I watch and track everything that goes in my mouth. Needless to say it's quite frustrating that I'm doing all this work for less reward than non PCOS people who follow the same regimen. My doc says the Met might help me lose some weight. I have recently ordered a PCOS recipe book through Amazon and I believe the recipes are along the lines of the low GI diet. Although my fasting blood sugar came back normal I think it might be helpful. I can't wait for it to show up! PCOS FORCES you to be healthy. YOu have no choice! |
