I take both fast- and long-lasting insulin. I take 60 units of Levemir (similar to Lantus) right before bed and I take Novolog before each meal. The number of units of Novolog is determined by a sliding scale which means that I'm checking my glucose level before each meal and then again 2 hours after each meal.
