You have surely started in the right direction. Going to a seminar & researching each surgery. Then decide which surgery is right for you.
Then make an appointment with your regular dr. I dont know if thats whats required for everyone but my insurance said I needed to be referred. At the appointment my PCP took my bloodwork, weight, etc & was actually very happy that I was moving in this direction.
Once referred, i called to make an appointment with the surgeon. The surgeons office sent me a TON of paper work to fill out & to have my dr's office fill out. My insurance (like most) requires you to also have an appointment with a Nutrionist & a shrink (on top of the seminar). My dr office schedules all these appointments in one day.
After all my appointments the coordinator sent in a request for approval to the insurance, and thats about it.
Some insurances require that you have a 6 month monitored diet. So, I would suggest calling your insurance company & seeing what they cover & what their pre-surgery requirements are.
Currently your bmi is over 40, if its been that way for 3 years then it does not matter if you have any other health problems.
