Thanks everyone. Who was your doctor @ Atlanta Medical Center? Was it Dr. Peorle? Lose 50 lbs huh? I hate when MD's say that cuz if it was that easy, then it would be done even if we weren't ttc! Don't they know that difficulty w/ weight loss is part of PCOS? I wanna scream everytime I hear that... Hell no, I don't wanna be this big!! My friends knew not to talk about my weight!
The difficulty w/ weight loss was the red flag for me. I'm a healthcare professional and had tried every diet known to man and never lost an ounce. Kept telling doctors that metabolism was not right. I would work out 6-7 days a week and starve myself and nothing!!! My doc didn't want to put me on diet pills cause she was a lil more conservative but I did ask her for 180mg of ibuprofen cause the period cramps were unbearable and that's when she asked me to do an U/S.
Its a double edge sword cause excessive working out isn't good for concieving so I have tried to cut back on working out but I've gained some of the weight I recently loss. The fact that going thru assisted reproductive meds w/the moodiness doesn't help cause I crave the sweets and carbs (another part of PCOS)
Ugh!!!
Let me know how the Emory thing goes? I was seeing Dr. Slayden @ Reproductive Biology Assoc...but wasn't feeling his staff. It was like trying to speak to him or see him is like trying to speak to the Pres of USA. Then they would get smart w/me when asking when my LH (like husband) would do the S/A. I just didn't like the vibe. At first, they wouldn't even set up an appt b/c of it. Then they treated me like Octomom cuz I wasn't married. Fertility treatments are too expensive to be treated as second class citizen!
I switched Docs but stayed w/them b/c after lots of research, they are the best in Atlanta. They come recommended by all the docs in atlanta. And they started it in atl.
My co-worker was referred to them by her dad (who happens to be an MD) b/c she had some special kind of cancer that caused her hormone to be wacked & had 2 have a piece of her brain that controls your hormones and period removed. She hadn't had a period in yrs. She had a team of specialist and after the surgery they recommended Reproductive Biology. She had an HSG and concieved the next day!! So there is hope.
At the time, I didn't know what HSG was or who they were. After I did my own research and attending there, that's when I found out she went there to. |
