Thank you so much for the help. I actually see my regular doctor on Wensday and am going to try getting a referal out since the military doctors have been no help to me. Years ago before I had my daughter (6 to be exact) when I first found out that I had PCOS I was seeing a wonderful Air Force Dr at Travis who had put me on Metformin then. It took me awhile to get adjusted to the new med, but within two months of being on it I was doing great and having very little side effects from my PCOS and Insulin Resistance. However, I ended up pregnant with my daughter at that point and went into full on gestational diabetes. They put me on Insulin and everything. After having my daughter, the doctor I was seeing dropped the ball. They would not put me back on the metformin and basically would tell me if I lost weight that I would not have the problems with the PCOS. (I had moved from CA to HI before getting pregnant so I was seeing a new dr). It has taken me years and over a dozen doctors to find one who would listen to me and give me a referal to Trippler for the PCOS. After all the tests and all the crap I have went through with the doctor at Trippler I was feeling completely hopeless of ever getting treatment for the PCOS. I could not belive how they were going to wait 8 months before treating me and they would not even consider using the metformin treatment that had worked so well for me in the past. After spending the past six years fighting with the army to take me seriously, I know exactly what you mean about everyone actting as if your crazy. I don't know what they expect though, when we are suffering and the people who are trained to help you refuse to or are clueless about the condition. I am very thankful to you for responding to my post here and offering me the name of your DR. Now lets hope that I will be able to get a referal out... with the Army there is never any telling. I will keep you updated after my appointment on Wensday. |
