I'm glad the appt with the nutritionist went well. What is it about the complications for the RNY that scare you? I had the RNY 4y 7m ago and am complication free aside from sugar intolerance. I'd be happy to discuss your fears about it if you want.
As far as the people who are discouraging part of it may be fear. Fear of going in to surgery (any kind of surgery...it just happens to be this one), fear that you will no longer be 'you', fear of the unknown and fear of the 'bad stories'. Unfortunately you always here of the 'horror stories' with WLS but you don't hear the good. All you can do is educate them and ask them to support you.
