I think we're twins! I gained 45 pounds in three months, but it was due to switching to a new brand of thyroid supplement and was given way too low of a dosage. I found out that my TSH was over 20.0 for most of those three months- that was considered "severe hypothyroidism" by the doctor.

Anyhoo, three years later, and I haven't lost a dang pound. The problem with getting your levels to where they're supposed to be is that you're not going to magically lose the weight you put on...just because you're now properly metabolizing your caloric intake doesn't mean you're going to metabolize more than before to burn the extra pounds. My experience has been that only diet and exercise will make your body shed the weight. However, once you get your hypothyroidism under control with medication, you'll actually feel well enough to start an exercise regime!
