Unhappy Doc reluctant to prescribe Met

Hi ladies,

I was recently diagnosed with pcos for irreg. cycles, lh:fsh ratio > 3 and test= 86. Ever since coming off Aldactone to ttc my acne has come on with a vengeance and it's taken such a toll on me. Hubby and I have been ttc for about 7 months since our wedding. I was referred to an obgyn to diagnosed me and she wants me to start on bcps. Well I don't tolerate these at all and last time on them felt like I was going nuts! I am a nurse and mentioned Metformin as a possibility and she shot me down right away because I'm thin and am non-IR (I'm 4'11,105lbs). I have decided to not go the BC route and try naturally for now and have been thinking of trying Soy. This whole ordeal would be so much more tolerable if I didn't have to deal with the aweful acne. The idea of Met is just so appealing to me because it will eventually help to lower my testosterone levels and hubby and I can still ttc if I take it.

Anywho, I was wondering if any of you Met takers had trouble getting it prescribed at first and if so how you were able to convince your Doc!
