what my endo tells me it's a symptom of pcos and he said there's not much i can do now to get rid of it. but with time it should lighten up a lot through medications. i'm on 1500 mg of metformin now for about 3.5 months. hope that helps and yes you should def go see a doctor about this. don't let your mom just shrug it off
