trying to have a baby with pcos I was dianosed with pcos when I was 19 yrs old. I never had regular periods but i thought it wasn't a big deal. however when i was just 15 years old I had a period that lasted almost 20 days but the doctors saw that i I had a fibroid and thought that might had caused the prolonged bleeding. By the time that I was 20 yrs. the fibroid went from the size of a pea to a 3 pound tumor, I Still wasn't having regular periods and it began to cause tremendous pain. My dodctor sugested that i have a myomectomy and I agreed but she told me that i wouldn't be able to have vaginal birth because of the scar on my uterus. I had the surgery which was the most painful procedure I have ever had! By this time i was engaged to my Middle-school sweet heart and we knew that if we wanted kids it had to be soon. At age 21 we decided to try to have children so we went to an infertility spcealist right away. They ran a series of test and at the time I was experincing Vaginal bleeding for a period of 9 months (oct.2007-July 2008). The nurse called me imedately and asked me if i was feeling okay because my blood count was a 6 (the normal count for a woman is betwwen 11-12). I informed her that i had been bleeding all that time continously. I was sent to a specailist and within a few months my blood count was back up but I had to take sometime off of work because of the severe Anemia. Sooner after I had a dye test done (Hsg) where they insert dye in your uterus and tubes to make sure that there aren't any blockages. I was heartbroken to find that my right tube was blocked with scar tissue from the myomectomy. The spealist suggested that I have a simple surgery to reopen the tube. I wanted a second opinion and opted out of the surgery because it would be a temporay fix and eventually the tube would close back and to me that just meant more scar tissue. Optimisic about the outcome because the new doctor said that many people concieve with one tube and ovary. But there was one more thing.... I have Hypothyroid Disorder and before we could do a round of meds my thyroid had to in control...(my previous doctor had discovered it) a few months later we were ready. finally after two years and five different doctors we can finally try. I am still having ilrregular periods so I took Provera to get me started and instead of Clomid, I took Femarra on cycle days 3-7. I'm a plus sized woman and my doctor thought Femara would work better for me.I am now on CD 10 and i am tracking my period with a ovalution predictor. I PRAY that this all ends with a healthy pregnancy. It's been a long journey but i have faith! hope that you all can find inspiration with this story!
