Default endometrial hyperplasia...?

Hi,
Any advice on at what point you should worry about getting endometrial hyperplasia? I have been on the pill mostly since I got my first period to regulate my periods, but I have gone for 6 months a few times without any periods when I stopped the pill. I asked my doctor and she said it has to be longstanding before you could develop this. Is she right? Should I be concerned about developing it? I stopped the pill again recently and it has been over 3 months since my last period and I worry about what kind of dangerous things could be going on inside me... lol. I am waiting to get in to a gyno/obgyn before I can request and provera or anythig to bring on a period, and my family doctor thought it would be good to say off the pill until I get in with her so I can give her info on any periods I may get between now and then. But it's going to be about 4 or 5 months still before I see her... if I don't get a period how dangerous is that?
Thanks!
