Just like yonana said before me,my metabolism was slow when I was hypo and not taking meds, from my hair growth, my skin, vision, cognitive thinking, moods, no energy and so many other things, I had no idea such a small gland had such an important function on my body. What my doctor explained me was that since my metabolism was slow once I was to start taking my thyroid replacement medicine, this was going to start to speed up my whole body, and any other underlaying health issue that i had at the moment. Before my skin was very dry, now it is somehow normal and not as ashy as before because my body was not producing the oils that it needed. My hair grows faster and I'm not as cold as I used to be. I did notice that I started having acne and a growth of hair under my chin that I never used to have, I started to notice that I am sensitive to carbs, sugar and just about any high calorie food. I found out that I am insulin resistant. I have always struggled with my weight, and never had a regular period, so I suspect that I have had both and maybe my hypothyroidism took over, once I had that under control my pcos was still there hiding waiting to tell me OK. here I am!!! My thyroid symptoms were going to away and my pcos was not, so now I have to try to fight it off. I hope this helps you...
