Hi. I'm new here too and can relate to your story. I have been having PCOS related issues since I was 15. I think the only normal period I've had has been my first one. After that they were never regular, I would go for months at a time without a period and then when I would get it I would sometimes bleed for weeks or months at a time. I have spent the last 15 years going from doctor to doctor trying to understand what was wrong with me and I have been told that it was because of stress, I would grow out of it, I didn't have PCOS b/c it didn't show on my ovaries during the ultrasounds, I didn't have any of the "normal" physical symptoms. Eventually I just stayed on BCP for about 8 years so I wouldn't have to deal with all the symptoms. I was finally diagnosed in Nov 2008 when my gyno (who didn't believe that I had PCOS either) finally referred me to an endo. I started taking met in Dec. 2008 and it seems to be helping me to have somewhat regular periods. Anyway sorry for the ranting it just feels good to have a place where other people understand what I am going through. |
