Default Same Boat

Hi,

Just wanted to share that I'm in the same boat. 5'4, 106 lbs, 27 yrs old and only symptom of PCO was irregular periods...then the ever-telling ultrasound. Have you had one of those? There's a bunch of little pointless follicles annoying my ovaries. So I started the metformin thing (originally 1500/day; now down to 1000/day because current RE thinks that's enough) in July of 2008...clomid eventually made me ovulate but short LP and never pregnant. This is my first month of injections (3 follies yesterday; rootin' for the little guys!), then I'll do the HCG when the RE thinks they're ripe, then progesterone suppliments (first month on those, too).

Doctors seem to think there's a necessary ladder of protocol that must be taken, which just draws out the process soooooo much. I've learned, through trial and error, that only you can be your best advocate. So if you want to take agressive action, politely, but firmly, speak your mind. Don't fall into the trap of "Dr knows best"...I've found that "Dr has a lot of patients and this stuff earns her/him big bucks"...or if you want to try al the herbal/natural methods, voice that opinion. Whatever your decision, please be sure to voice it

Side note - Ever watch the Jon and Kate plus 8? She's "PCO" too...and a small person. Both sets of multiples were conceived on injectables (she doesn't state her exact "cocktail" in the book...but it is rather uplifting to read).

Best wishes!

Melanie
